totesport Bowl

Distance: 3m 1f
Details: (Grade 2) (Class 1) (5yo+)
Venue: Aintree
Race Type: Jumps
Next Running: Thursday April 8th, 2010

The totesport Bowl is part of the Grand National meeting at Aintree in early April.

There are nineteen fences to be jumped in the race.

It is often seen as a consolation prize for horses beaten in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, and no horse has ever won both races in the same season.

It was first run in 1984 under the title of the Martell Cup Chase until 2002, when it became the Martell Cognac Cup Chase.

In 2005 and 2006, it was raced under the title of the Betfair Bowl.

However, with totesport becoming the Official Betting Partner of the Grand National meeting in February 2008, it is being run under the name of The totesport Bowl this year.
