The Epsom Oaks Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race for three-year-old thoroughbred fillies.
It is one of five British Classic Races.
The race is named after the Earl of Derby's estate "The Oaks" which is in nearby Carshalton.
At a dinner party held there, the Earl and his friends planned a sweepstake for three-year-old fillies over a distance of one and a half miles and this was first run the following year on May 14, 1779 and won by the Earl's own horse Bridget.
Trainer Trend: Whilst the last six renewals have all been won by different trainers, looking further back over ten years, HRA Cecil and AP O'Brien have won this race three times each.
Favourite Trend: The favourite won in 2006 and the joint favourite won in 2005. The highest priced outsider in the last six years was 33/1 Look Here in 2008.
Official Rating Trend: Range: 94-110 (No OR for the 2006 winner).
None at present.
