The Ascot Gold Cup is a Group 1 flat horse race for four-year-old and above thoroughbreds and is part of Royal Ascot.
First run in 1807, the Gold Cup is traditionally held on Ladies' Day (day three) at Royal Ascot and is the feature event of the five-day racing festival.
Along with the Doncaster Cup and the Goodwood Cup, the Ascot Gold Cup is part of Britain's Stayers' Triple Crown for horses capable of running longer distances.
